WEATHER SEAL LUBRICANT TO INCREASE WEATHER SEAL PERFORM.

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987-1990 ALLANTES

Some 1987-1990 Allantes may experience one or all of the following conditions:

Squeak and itching noise from the top(s) to body weather seal interface.

High door closing efforts with properly adjusted doors.

Abrasion and/or distortion at the CV cap and horizontal roof rail weather seal interface, which could promote water leaks.

Door glass binding or adhesion to the weather seal.

To address these conditions apply GM weatherstrip lubricant, P/N 3634770, to all weather sealing surfaces. This is recommended instead of silicone.

Part is currently available from GMSPO.

Application instructions:

1. With a clean cloth dampened with water, wipe off the weather sealing surfaces as required to remove dust, dirt, and previous lubricants.

2. Apply lubricant liberally to all weatherstrip sealing surfaces and to the door striker and striker pin and glass run channel using the applicator provided.

3. Allow lubricant to remain on surface. It is suggested to wipe off excess in high contact areas with a paper towel, then dispose of towel in trash container.

4. Wash hands with soap and water.

WARNING: This lubricant is a fluorinated compound. Although non-toxic in its normal state, when heated above 600 DEG F it will produce fumes that if inhaled could cause flu-like symptoms (i.e., headache, nausea, vomiting). It is extremely important not to contaminate smoking materials or subject this material to these temperatures and inhale fumes.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6420 at .5 hour.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
