SUMMARY OF ALLANTE REPAIRS BULLETIN REFERENCES

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 AND 1988 ALLANTES

During the 1987 and 1988 model years, Cadillac has developed many Serviceman Bulletins related to continuing product improvements and repairs for the Allante. These bulletins have been distributed and indexed regularly throughout the two model years. The purpose of this bulletin is to highlight some of the more common body related service procedures into a single listing for dealer service reference and provide a suggested order for completion on vehicles requiring these repairs.

Body Sealing:

1. Allante Wind Noise and Water Leaks (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-59) is an updated version of the information presented in the Allante training video tape and describes basic body and seal system alignment procedures including the addition of a filler at the top of the C.V. channel.

2. Allante Wind Noise and Water Leak Supplement (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-60) addresses sealing concerns at the roof to A-Pillar to C.V. window area through the addition of soft foam patches to the C.V. cap and top weatherstrips, along with a procedure to reinforce the roof header weatherstrip over the A-Pillar.

3. Wind Noise/Water Leak at the B-Pillar with Hard Top Installed (Serviceman Bulletin T-87-128A) describes the addition of a pad to the hard top B-Pillar weatherstrip to improve sealing.

4. Door Lock Caps Replacement (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-61) describes the addition of triangular shaped caps to the door lock access holes to deflect water outboard.

5. Seal Side Door Lock Pillar Upper (Mucket) Replacement (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-30, mailed in October, 1987) provides replacement procedure and revised part numbers for B-Pillar door muckets for increased sealing.

6. Soft Top Quarter Window Weatherstrip Assembly Replacement (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-62) provides service information for revised soft top quarter window weatherstrips with thicker cross section and "blow out" clips to increase sealing at the rear of the door glass.

Other Reference Bulletins:

7. Back Light Rear Defogger Connector Difficult to Disconnect from Hard Top (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-63) details the procedure to reduce connector engagement efforts.

8. Soft/Hard Top Pull Down Motor Replacement (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-64) provides replacement procedure and part requirements to replace 1987 pull down units with the 1988 version.

9. Soft Top Cable Replacement (Serviceman Builetin T-88-65) details the inspection and replacement procedure for worn or frayed soft top cables.

10.Fuel Filler Door Doesn't Open Properly (Serviceman Bulletin T-88-31, mailed in October, 1987) provides replacement procedure and part numbers to address fuel door opening operation.

Labor Operations and the associated times are provided separately in each of the bulletins. They should be submitted individually as required to repair possible conditions on these vehicles. Labor Operation T6216 that was released for many of the sealing repairs in DSIB 87-I-37, will be discontinued effective February 1, 1988.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
