Some 1987 and early 1988 Allantes may experience a water leak at the rear of the door between the inner door pad and the inner door panel. This condition may be caused by the round door lock cap (refer to Figure 1) which holds the door pad away from the inner door panel allowing water to roll over the cap and into the door. To repair this condition, replace the original (round) caps with the revised ( triangular) caps, P/N 1646547, two per side.
For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6273 at .2 hour to replace four door lock caps.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
