SOFT TOP DIFFICULT TO LATCH IN REAR-ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

SUBJECT: SOFT TOP DIFFICULT TO LATCH IN REAR (INSTALL A REVISED PULL, DOWN UNIT)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987-90 V

Some 1987-1990 Allantes built before 1990 VIN breakpoints LU100450 (hard top) and LU127112 (soft top only) may experience a condition of the soft top difficult to latch in the rear. To repair this condition use of the following service procedure:

1. Verify soft top hook contacts the pull down unit jaws correctly. Refer to Product Service Bulletin 89-2-212, Group 10. Adjust as required.

2. If latching effort is still excessive after proper hook adjustment, install a revised pull down unit, P/N #3526879. The revised pull down has 5mm of additional upward travel that will engage the hook into the pull down unit jaws sooner when latching the rear bow. Refer to the appropriate Service Information Manual, Section 10-9, for installation instructions.
