NEW REVERSE AND 1-2 BAND APPLY PIN GAGE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989-90 THM F-7 CAR SERIES V

ASSEMBLY COMPONENT CHANGE:

A new reverse and 1-2 band apply (servo) pin gauge is required for all 1989 and 1990 THM F-7 transaxles. The 1989 and 1990 THM F-7 transaxle calibrations require a longer reverse and 1-2 band apply selection set. This new gauge pin will make the band apply pin selection about 0.080" (2mm) longer or two sizes longer than if gauge pin J 33382-2 is used.

SERVICE PROCEDURE: (Figures 1 and 2) ----------------- When servicing a 1989 or 1990 model year THM F-7 transaxle, use the proper year 1-2 band apply pin selection chart and gauge pin J 33382-10. Gauge pin J 33382-10 has a hex head for easy identification.

SERVICE MANUAL REFERENCE:

This product change information is shown in the THM F-7 Automatic Transaxle Unit Repair section of your 1990 Service Manual.

SERVICE TOOL INFORMATION:

The 1-2 and reverse band apply pin gauge J 33382-10 will be available later in the 1989 calendar year from Kent-Moore. Order the tool from Kent-Moore's order department at (313) 574-2332 or 1-800-345-2233.

This change does not affect 1987 or 1988 model years.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
