TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM PLUNGER BRACKET CLICK NOISE

SUBJECT: CLICKING NOISE FROM THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM

MODELS AFFECTED: 1990 ALLANTES

Some 1990 Allantes may experience a clicking noise that is heard inside the vehicle during traction control operation. This is the normal sound of the Traction Control System (TCS) plunger operating and not indicative of any malfunction. If desired, it may be possible to diminish the clicking noise by replacing the TCS plunger bracket. The new bracket includes isolators at the mounting points. Refer to figure 1.

To replace the bracket follow the procedure outlined below. Refer to Figure 2.

Parts needed:

TCS Plunger Bracket 3523888 10mm Bolts (three) 11514343 Isolators (three) 3523889

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

1. Insert the isolators into the new bracket.

2. Remove the cross-car brace.

3. Disconnect the sensor block and fluid level sensor connectors.

4. Remove the two 13mm nuts.

5. Remove the three 10mm bolts.

6. Remove the original traction control plunger bracket and install the replacement bracket.

7. Use the new, longer 10mm bolts to re-secure bracket. Torque to 20 N.m (15 lbs. ft.).

8. Reinstall the two 13mm nuts. Torque to 27 N.m (20 lbs. ft.).

9. Reconnect the sensor block and fluid level sensor connectors.

10. Reinstall the cross-car brace.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6482 at .5 hour.
