--------- Brougham
A high-pitched tone noise (10 kHz) may occur on early 1990 Broughams equipped with optional CD player radio. The tone or squeal may occur under the following conditions:
CD playing, "COMP" feature on, customer presses ST-PLAY to stop the CD then ST-PLAY to restart the CD.
Allante
A high-pitched tone noise may occur on early 1990 Allantes with standard CD player. The tone or squeal may occur under the following conditions:
CD playing, customer presses stop/eject then play/prog then stop/eject, in cold ambient temperatures (approximately 20 DEG F).
On both the Brougham and Allante the CD will not play; a continuous 10 kHz tone or squeal will be audible through the speakers. The condition will correct itself when the radio is turned off then on, or when the key is turned off.
----- The cause is data communications problems between the CD deck and the radio processor. New CD decks are available from radio repair centres to correct these conditions.
---------- To repair this condition on Broughams exchange the radio with one available from a local AC-Delco Repair Centre.

To repair this condition on Allantes remove the combo panel and remove the CD player per instructions in Section 9A of the 1990 Service Information Manual.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
