Some owners of 1993 Allante's may comment of a slosh or thud noise in the rear of the vehicle when coming to a stop when the fuel tank is between one and three quarter full. This condition may be mis-diagnosed as a loose lumber noise in the rear suspension. The condition may be caused by a wave of fuel contacting the forward end of the fuel tank. The original fuel tank does not contain a baffle.
To repair this condition replace the fuel tank with a new fuel tank with baffle, P/N 3540036.
Parts are expected to be available on June 7, 1993.
For warranty purposes use Labor Operation L1260, Fuel Tank Replace, at 1.3 hours.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
