  1. Install the right side knock sensor.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the right side knock sensor bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the right side knock sensor bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the left side knock sensor.
  6. Install the left side knock sensor bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the left side knock sensor bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  8. Install the timing belt rear cover.
  9. Install the knock sensor wires.
  10. Apply thread adhesive GM P/N 12345382, (Canadian P/N 10953489), to the timing belt rear cover bolts and threaded pin.
  11. Install the timing belt rear cover bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the timing belt rear cover bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  13. Install the timing belt rear cover threaded pin.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the timing belt rear cover threaded pin to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
