Info - Engine Coolant/Block Heater NOT Available for Manual Transmission Vehicles

Important: Installation of the engine coolant/block heater on 2003 CTS models equipped with a manual transmission, option M35, may adversely affect cold weather engine start-up performance.

On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, option M35, the engine coolant/block heater feature, option K05/KA3, is NOT available from the factory or as a dealer installed option and should NOT be installed on these vehicles.

The engine coolant/block heater feature, option K05/KA3, is ONLY available on the 2003 CTS models equipped with an automatic transmission, option M82.

Due to the proximity of the engine coolant/block heater to the engine coolant temperature sensor, inaccurate coolant temperature sensor signals may be received by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) upon cold start. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission and engine coolant/clock heater, the automatic transmission temperature sensor is used to provide the required temperature information to the PCM during cold ambient temperatures.
