When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Static on AM band with brake applied.

Recommendation/Instructions:

After normal diagnosis is performed and the problem still exists, change the radio antenna preference on the radio DIC from local to distant. Also make sure that the Alternate Frequency "AF" box is not checked. If condition is still present, check the two large body grounds G401 and G402 located in the rear compartment that anchor to the left and right floor rails DOC ID number 809460. Take a pencil or pen and drag the tip around the copper braiding where it is crimped and look for broken strands indicating that the ground is lifting. If after the above steps are performed and the static is still unresolved, replace the CHMSL assembly with part number 25764608.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
