Voice Recognition System on Uplevel Radio Not Functioning Properly in Cold Weather (Replace Radio Assembly)

Subject:Voice Recognition System On Uplevel Radio Not Functioning Properly In Cold Weather (Replace Radio Assembly)

Models:2003 Cadillac CTS with RPO U2V
Built Prior To VIN Breakpoint 30117746

The voice recognition system is a feature of the U2V radio available on 2003 Cadillac CTS Luxury (RPO 1SB) and Luxury Sport (RPO 1SC) vehicles.

Condition

Some customers may comment that when the vehicle is started in outside ambient temperatures of 0°C (32°F) or lower, all of the radio functionalities are present except for the voice recognition feature. However, after the vehicle has warmed up for approximately three minutes, the voice recognition system will return to normal operation. This condition is cold weather related and the amount of time required to warm the vehicle enough for the voice recognition system to operate may vary with the outside ambient temperature.

Cause

This condition may be due to a unique software issue within the radio's voice recognition system.

Correction

Modifications have been made to the voice recognition software.

Replace the existing radio assembly with P/N 25746714. Refer to Radio Replacement in the Entertainment sub-section of the Service Manual for the replacement procedures.
