Service VME - Inoperative Sunroof

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Message concerns 2003 Cadillac CTS with inoperative sunroofs. A recent review of several cases of inoperative sunroofs at the warranty parts center showed motor actuators and or entire sunroof module assemblies being replaced when the actual failure was the circuit board in the sunroof controller. Use standard diagnosis per service information Document Identification 822152 and pay particular attention to Step 11 which checks motor control circuitry. For vehicles built prior to June 2002, sunroof controller part number 25678002 may cause an inoperative sunroof. This is Dave King Brand Quality Manager for Cadillac.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
