When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Customer may comment that they see a "TP" (Traffic Program) icon displayed on the upper right of the radio DIC on base (U2R) and Mid-level (U2S) radios. This information is not covered in the owners manual.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The "Traffic Program" icon is displayed whenever the radio detects a signal from a RDS (Radio Data System) station, that has a proper encoding signifying the station has Traffic Announcement (TA) broadcast capability "turned on".

  1. The TP icon does not mean the station is actually then broadcasting Traffic Announcements.
  2. To hear a Traffic Announcement/s if they are being sent, it is still required that the user turn on "TA" functionality in the radio.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
