Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1392838  Size: SH
  1. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  3. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe and covers. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side in Engine Exhaust.
  5. Remove the oil level indicator tube . Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  6. Remove the negative battery cable from the right cylinder head. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  7. Object Number: 260149  Size: SH

    Important: The cylinder head bolts are NOT reusable.

  8. Remove the cylinder head bolts.
  9. Notice: After removal, place the cylinder head on 2 wood blocks in order to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces.

  10. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Right Side .

  11. Object Number: 63170  Size: SH
  12. Remove the cylinder head gasket.
  13. Discard the gasket.
  14. Discard the cylinder head bolts.
  15. Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 260149  Size: SH
  1. Install the right cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Right Side .
  2. Install the negative battery cable to the right cylinder head. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  3. Object Number: 651879  Size: SH
  4. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  5. Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side in Engine Exhaust.
  6. Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  7. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  8. Install the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
