Schematic Reference: Navigation System Schematics

DEFINITION: When playing a video input source connected to the auxiliary RCA video jacks, the video audio is inoperative, plays one side only or is degraded.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF. The Cadillac emblem screen appears on the navigation radio.
  2. Leave the vehicle in PARK.
  3. Press the MAIN button on the radio. The main menu appears on the display.
  4. Press the TV button on the main menu screen.
  5. Select a TV station. The TV should be clear on the radio display.
  6. Connect a VCR to the auxiliary RCA video jacks.
  7. Select AUX VIDEO under the TV SETUP menu screen.
  8. Observe the display. The VCR selection should appear on the radio. The picture and audio should be clear.

Does the system operate normally?

Operate the TV function of the navigation system.

Does the audio for the TV function operate with good quality?

Go to Step 4

Test the following circuits for an open, a short to ground or a short to voltage.

    • The auxiliary audio left signal circuit
    • The auxiliary audio right signal circuit
    • The audio ground circuit

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short between the auxiliary audio left signal circuit to the auxiliary audio right signal circuit. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the auxiliary RCA video jacks. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the auxiliary RCA video jacks. Refer to Auxiliary Audio/Video Input Control Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the TV antenna module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the TV antenna module. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
