Schematic Reference: Navigation System Schematics

DEFINITION: When playing a video input source connected to the auxiliary RCA video jacks, the video is inoperative or degraded.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF. The Cadillac emblem screen appears on the navigation radio.
  2. Leave the vehicle in PARK.
  3. Press the MAIN MENU button on the radio. The main menu appears on the display.
  4. Press the TV button on the main menu screen.
  5. Select a TV station. The TV should be clear on the radio display.
  6. Connect a VCR to the auxiliary RCA video jacks.
  7. Select AUX VIDEO under the TV SETUP menu.
  8. Observe the display. The VCR selection should appear on the radio. The picture and audio should be clear.

Does the system operate normally?

Test the operation of the TV in the navigation radio.

Does the TV operate correctly?

Test the auxiliary ground circuit for an open, a short to ground or a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the auxiliary video high signal circuit for an open, a short to ground or a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short between the auxiliary video high signal circuit to the auxiliary ground circuit. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the auxiliary RCA video jacks. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the auxiliary RCA video jacks. Refer to Auxiliary Audio/Video Input Control Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the TV antenna module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
