The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the km/h indicator when the radio detects that metric units have been requested via the Eng/Met button. The radio sends a class 2 message indicating the requested units to the IPC.

The message center illuminates the OIL PRESSURE LOW message when the engine control module (ECM) detects a low engine oil pressure condition, and the signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting the OIL PRESSURE LOW message from the ECM. The engine oil pressure should be a range of 140 - 550 kPa (20 - 80 psi). This OIL PRESSURE LOW message should correspond with the IPC engine oil pressure indicator.

MPH

The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message when the engine control module (ECM) determines that the engine oil life is 0 percent. The ECM sends a class 2 message to the radio requesting illumination. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting .

FUEL LEVEL LOW

The radio illuminates the FUEL LEVEL LOW message in the radio when the instrument panel cluster (IPC) determines that the fuel level is less than 9.48 liters (2.5 gallons). The IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the fuel level from the engine control module (ECM).

HEADLAMPS SUGGESTED

ICE POSSIBLE

The radio illuminates the ICE POSSIBLE message when the outside air temperature drops below 2°C (36°F). When the temperature rises above 5.5°C (42°F), the ICE POSSIBLE message turns OFF. The radio receives a class 2 message indicating the outside air temperature from the dash integration module (DIM).

Lateral Acceleration (JL4)

Lateral acceleration is a measure of how hard a vehicle is taking a corner. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) calculates the lateral acceleration during vehicle turns as part of the vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES). The EBCM sends a class 2 message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicating the vehicle lateral acceleration. Lateral acceleration which is acceleration due to gravity is measured in a g. The lateral acceleration display in the message center measures from 0.00 g up to 1.2 g. Refer to ABS Description and Operation for more information the VSES system.

LOW OIL LEVEL

The radio illuminates the CHECK OIL LEVEL message when the engine control module (ECM) detects low engine oil level, and the signal circuit is low. The ECM only monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch for a brief period when the key moves from ON to START. The radio receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the ECM.

OIL PRESSURE LOW STOP ENGINE

The radio illuminates the OIL PRESSURE LOW STOP ENGINE message when the engine control module (ECM) detects low engine oil pressure, and the signal circuit is low. The radio receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the ECM.
