DEFINITION: The theft deterrent alarm does not sound when the content theft deterrent (CTD) system is in alarm mode, or the theft deterrent alarm sounds when the CTD system is not in alarm mode.

Does the theft deterrent alarm sound when the CTD system is not in alarm mode?

Does the theft deterrent alarm sound when the ignition is ON?

Disconnect the theft deterrent alarm harness connector.

Does the theft deterrent alarm sound?

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Probe the Ignition 1 voltage circuit at the theft deterrent alarm harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Measure the voltage of the hazard switch signal circuit at the theft deterrent alarm harness connector with a DMM.

Is the voltage near the specified value?

12 V

Test the theft deterrent alarm hazard switch signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
