Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

Important: The passenger seat is equipped with an Inflatable Restraints Passenger Presence System, which is attached to the bottom seat cushion. A preload check will have to be performed after any repairs that involve removal of seat cover/trim.

Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling for driver seat and to SIR Disabling and Enabling for passenger seat in SIR.
Remove the seat cushion from the adjuster track enough to gain access to the power seat switch. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .

Remove the knobs from the switch by gently prying them off using a flat-bladed tool.

On the underside of the seat cushion, locate the retainers (1) securing the power seat switch bezel to the seat cushion frame (3).
Squeeze the retainers while gently prying the bezel from the seat cushion frame.
Remove the power seat switch bezel.
Release the J channel retainers securing the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion frame in order to gain access to the power seat switch.

Remove the push-in fastener securing the power seat switch (2) to the seat cushion frame (3).
Slide the power seat switch (2) from the seat cushion frame (3).

Notice: Note the correct routing of the electrical wiring. Failure to reinstall the wiring properly could result in damage to the wiring.

Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the power seat switch.

Installation Procedure

Install the wiring harness in the position in which it was removed.
Connect the electrical connector to the power seat switch.
Slide the power seat switch upward into the seat cushion frame.
Install the push-in fastener in order to secure the power seat switch to the seat cushion frame.
Install the J channel retainers securing the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion frame.
Install the seat cushion cover over the switch.
Position the power seat switch bezel over the switches.
Engage the power seat switch bezel fasteners in order to secure the bezel to the seat cushion frame.

Install the power seat switch knobs.
Install the seat cushion. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
Enable the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling for driver seat and to SIR Disabling and Enabling for passenger seat in SIR.
Perform the passenger presence system preload test procedure when replacing or performing any repairs on the passenger seat. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems.
