Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) System Inoperative (Enable System Using Tech 2)

Some customers may comment that the Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system is inoperative.

The cause of this condition may be that these vehicles were produced with the CTD inadvertently turned off.

To determine if a vehicle may be affected, test the alarm and activate the CTD system using the Tech 2®.

1. From inside the vehicle, roll down the window, and then get out of the vehicle, keeping the door open.
2. From outside of the vehicle, with the door open, lock the vehicle using the power door lock switch or the remote keyless entry transmitter and close the door. Wait approximately 30 seconds until the security light goes off.
3. Reach in and unlock the door using the manual lock and open the door. The horn will sound and the exterior lamps will flash. You can turn off the alarm by unlocking the driver’s door with your key, using the unlock button on the remote keyless entry transmitter or by starting the car with a valid key.

If the alarm does not sound, install the Tech 2® and enable the CTD system using the following path:

1. Diagnostics
2. Body
3. DIM
4. Set Options
5. Universal Theft Deterrent

Verify "Theft Option Present" has an asterisk next to it. Exit out and re-test the alarm. If the condition is still present, follow SI Document ID #1429695 for additional diagnosis.
