2005 STS IP Center Trim Panel Removal - kw hvac instrument ip ipc panel radio

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

During review of parts for the 2005 STS at the Warranty Parts Center we have noticed several of the IP Center Trim Panels that are cracked outboard of the HVAC outlets.

It appears that technicians are pulling on the top edge of the Center Trim Panel to release it from it’s clips which is over-stressing the part at this location. It is necessary to start at the bottom outboard edges of the Trim Panel and carefully pull it rearward to release it from the clips, then work upward to release the remaining clips. SI document 1453221 will be updated to advise technicians of this revised procedure.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
