Attention:

An involved VIN listing is contained in the Administrative Message (U.S.) or Dealer Communication (Canada). If any of these vehicles are still in your inventory, perform this repair as soon as possible, but no later than November 30, 2005, at which time this bulletin will expire.

Condition

On certain 2005-2006 CTS vehicles built with manual transmissions, the clutch line may have been routed so that it is in contact with or has less than 25 mm (1 in.) clearance to the catalytic converter.

Correction

Dealers are to secure the clutch line to the manual transmission housing by re-routing the clutch line and installing a retaining clamp.

Service Procedure

Clutch Hose Routing and Clamp Assembly

Raise the vehicle. Refer Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle, SI document number 813128.
Route the clutch hose between the catalytic converter and front-of-dash sheet metal. Ensure that the clearance between the clutch hose and the catalytic converter is 25 mm (1 in.) or greater.

Important: Remove the rubber coating from the clamp before installing it onto the transmission bell housing. Use the M 8 bolt (P/N 11513914) to fasten the clamp (P/N 2043150) to the transmission bell housing. The bolt has a 13 mm (.051 in.) flange head and is 12 mm (0.47 in.) in length. Apply High Strength, High Temperature Threadlocker®[horbar]Red, (GM P/N 89021297), or equivalent, to the bolt and tighten the bolt to: 25 ± 4 N·m(16-21 lb ft).

Insert the clutch hose into the clamp and install the clamp (P/N 2043150) to the open boss on the transmission bell housing. The open boss on the bell housing is located in the 9 o’clock position if you are viewing the bell housing from underneath the vehicle.
Lower the vehicle.
