Some customers may comment that the rear dome lamp console is loose and/or there is false activation of the theft deterrent system.
Headliner weight is resting on the rear console bezel, forcing the rear console bezel-to-base mounts to release. This release opens a gap at the theft deterrent module to bezel interface, leading to false alarms. The condition of false alarms may also be caused if the theft deterrent module is not fully snapped into the rear console base unit, which will also cause a gap to exist between the module and the bezel.
Replace the rear console assembly using the following procedure.
Important: Take care not to bend or distort the headliner in the next step. Distortion will possibly result in future false alarms of the theft system.
Important: The intrusion sensor must be secure in the locking tabs and the sensor "eyes" must be shown through the openings of the rear console assembly prior to installing the assembly into the substrate.
Important: In the next step, take care to capture the rear antenna bracket and not bend the headliner.
Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
