Some customers may comment about a whine or hiss type noise while operating in 6th gear only. The noise is most noticeable at speeds of 60 to 70 mph (96 to 112 kph) but may be heard at other speeds as well.

Engineering has determined this noise to be an operating characteristic. The noise should be compared to a like vehicle with a like transmission and if possible similar mileage prior to attempting any repairs.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
