Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2007 🢒 CTS 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 6.0L 🢒 Cylinder Head Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  3. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement .
  4. Remove the power steering pump and bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side .
  6. Remove the engine wiring harness ground bolt from the rear of the left cylinder head.
  7. Reposition the engine wire harness ground strap away from the cylinder head.

    8. Object Number: 1408868 Size: SH

    Important: The cylinder head bolts are of a torque-to-yield design and are NOT to be used again. Install NEW cylinder head bolts during assembly.

  8. Remove the M8 and M11 cylinder head bolts (220, 221).

    9. Notice: After removal, place the cylinder head on 2 wood blocks in order to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces.

  9. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Left Side .

  10. Remove the cylinder head gasket (217).
  11. Discard the gasket.
  12. Discard the cylinder head bolts.
  13. Disassemble the cylinder head if necessary. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .
  14. Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .
  15. Assemble the cylinder head if necessary. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1408868 Size: SH
  1. Install the cylinder head (218). Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Left Side .
  2. Position the engine wire harness ground strap to the cylinder head.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the engine wiring harness ground bolt to the rear of the left cylinder head.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the engine wire harness ground bolt to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  4. Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side .
  5. Install the power steering pump and bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  6. Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement .
  7. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  8. Install the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
