Preliminary Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

Outer Tie Rod Nut

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tighten
70 N·m (52 lb ft)

Outer Tie Rod Jam Nut

Tighten
75 N·m (55 lb ft)

Outer Tie Rod

Tip

    • Use the J 24319-B to separate the outer tie rod ball stud from the steering knuckle.
    • Inspect the inner tie rod for bent or damaged threads.
    • Clean the tapered surface of the steering knuckle.
    • Adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
    • Count the number of turns during removal for installation.
