Knock or Clunk Noise CTS

DEFINITION: Knocking or clunking noise occurs when operating the vehicle in high gear or coasting in neutral at 16 km/h (10 mph).

One or more of the universal joints are worn or damaged.

Replace the driveshaft complete.

The side gear hub counterbore in the differential is worn oversize.

Replace the differential case and/or the side gears. Refer to Differential Replacement .

Replace mount.

Loose mounting hardware

Ensure that all axle mounts are properly torqued. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
