Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 801327 Size: SH
  1. Remove the shift control knob. Refer to Control Lever and/or Boot Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 834525 Size: SH
  2. Remove the sound insulator foam block from the console.

    3. Object Number: 834521 Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts (2) securing the shift control assembly to the shift control adapter plate.
  4. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement .

    5. Object Number: 1236100 Size: SH
  5. Remove the propeller shaft (6). Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement .
  6. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
  7. Remove the transmission support. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement .
  8. Lower the rear of the transmission in order to gain access to the top of the transmission.

  9. Using a flat-blade tool, release the left and right side shift control rod pin retainers (1, 2).

    10. Object Number: 1459719 Size: SH
  10. Remove the left and right side shift control rod pins (1, 3).
  11. Using a flat-blade tool, release the center shift control rod pin retainer (2).
  12. Remove the center shift control rod pin retainer (2).
  13. Remove the shift control assembly (4) from the transmission. Remove the shift control assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1459719 Size: SH
  1. Install the shift control assembly (4) to the transmission.
  2. Install the center shift control rod pin retainer (2).
  3. Install the left and right side shift control rod pins (1, 3).

    4. Object Number: 1459715 Size: SH
  4. Rotate the left and right side shift control rod pins (1, 2) in order to lock the retainers into place on the transmission.
  5. Raise the transmission.
  6. Install the transmission support. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement .

    7. Object Number: 1236100 Size: SH
  7. Remove the jack supporting the transmission.
  8. Install the propeller shaft (6). Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement .

    9. Object Number: 834521 Size: SH
  9. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Install the bolts (2) securing the shift control assembly to the adapter plate.

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the shift control bolts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  12. Install the sound insulator foam block into the console.

  13. Install the shift control knob. Refer to Control Lever and/or Boot Replacement .
