Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Close the rear compartment.

Is the trunk ajar indicator illuminated/message displayed?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. Close the rear compartment.
  4. With a scan tool observe the rear compartment lid ajar switch signal input in the rear integration module (RIM) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the rear compartment is open?

Go to Step 4

Disconnect the rear compartment lid release actuator.

Is the trunk ajar indicator illuminated/message displayed?

Go to Step 5

Inspect for a short to ground in the rear compartment lid ajar switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid release activator. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the driver information center (DIC). Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Switch Replacement .

Replace the RIM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you replace the repair?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
