Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Right Side LP1, LY7

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1562768 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield lower bolt.
  4. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.

    5. Object Number: 1562770 Size: SH
  5. Remove the lower exhaust manifold heat shield retainers (1), if necessary.
  6. Remove the lower exhaust manifold heat shield (2), if necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1562770 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower exhaust manifold heat shield (2), if necessary.
  2. Install the lower exhaust manifold heat shield retainers (1), if necessary.

    3. Object Number: 1562768 Size: SH
  3. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
  4. Install but do not tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield lower bolt.
  5. Lower the vehicle.

    6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield upper bolts.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  8. Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield lower bolt.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1199294 Size: SH
  1. Remove the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side .
  2. Remove the bolts (604) securing the exhaust manifold heat shield (603) to the exhaust manifold (600).
  3. Remove the heat shield from the manifold.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1199294 Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield to the manifold.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the bolts (604) securing the exhaust manifold heat shield (603) to the manifold (600).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m  (80 lb in).

  3. Install the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side .
