Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  3. Object Number: 1969964  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the rear brake pipe fitting (1).
  5. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.


    Object Number: 1969965  Size: SH
  6. Remove the front brake hose retainer clip (1).

  7. Object Number: 1969966  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake hose fitting bolt (1).
  9. Remove the brake hose fitting gaskets (2) from the brake hose (3).
  10. Discard the brake hose fitting gaskets.

  11. Remove the brake hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1969966  Size: SH
  1. Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) with 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the brake hose assembly to the caliper.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake hose fitting bolt to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear brake hose retainer clip (1).

  6. Object Number: 1969964  Size: SH
  7. Connect the rear brake pipe fitting (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  9. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
