Subject:Intermittent XM, Blank Display, System Resets, Timeshift Operation Or Music Copy Functionality; Incorrect Dimming Level; System Stating Unable To Plan Route After A Route Deviation; System Intermittently Not Showing Low Fuel Warning (Update Navigation Radio Software)

Models:2008 Cadillac CTS, CTS-V
with Navigation Radio (RPO UAV)

Attention: This software update is for 2008 Model Year Cadillac CTS vehicles with navigation radio P/N 25913880 only.


Condition

Some customers may comment on the following concerns:

    • Intermittent XM operation.
    • Intermittent Timeshift operation.
    • Intermittent music copy functionality.
    • Intermittent blank display (no text, intermittent touch control).
    • Incorrect dimming level (night dimming during day or day dimming at night).
    • System stating it is unable to plan a route after a route deviation.
    • System intermittently resets (shows Cadillac startup animation).
    • System intermittently not showing low fuel warning.

Cause

These conditions may be caused by a software anomaly.

Update the navigation radio software.

Do not replace the navigation radio.

Important: 

   • Do not attempt to update any other part number radio with this disc.
   • Do not eject the disc during the update.
   • Do not turn the ignition off or remove power to the radio during the update.
   • Do not leave the disc in the radio after the update.
   • Do not give the disc to the customer.
   • The software update disc may be used to update more than one vehicle.

Technicians are to update the navigation radio software using a software update disc, P/N 20757141. The software update disc is to be obtained from the GM Navigation Disc Center, using the contact information below.

  1. Switch the ignition to ON and turn the radio ON.
  2. Insert the update disc and wait for the system to indicate it is an update disc and show the update screen.
  3. Press the "Update" button once and wait for the system to reset and begin the update. The update will take approximately 11 minutes.
  4. The system will automatically reset halfway through the update and continue.
  5. When the update is done, the system will reset again and return to the update screen.
  6. Press "Cancel" or eject the update disc. The software update is now complete.
  7. After this software update, the disc may be used again on another vehicle.

Navigation Radio Software Update Disc

Navigation software update discs are for the dealer to update the navigation radio software only. They DO NOT update or replace the navigation map disc that is supplied with the vehicle. Please order these parts only as needed. There is a limited supply of these discs available. Do not order these discs for stock. Navigation software discs may be used to reprogram more than one vehicle. The first update disc for each P/N is free. Subsequent copies of the same P/N for the same dealer will cost $50 (USD). Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-44-012B for additional information.
