The purpose of New Product Information is to highlight, or indicate, important product changes from the previous model year.

Changes may include 1 or more of the following items:

    • Torque values and/or fastener tightening strategies
    • Changed engine specifications
    • New sealants and/or adhesives
    • Disassembly and assembly procedure revisions
    • Engine mechanical diagnostic procedure revisions
    • New special tools required
    • A component comparison from the previous year

Torque Values and/or Fastener Tightening Strategies

    • All fasteners and threaded holes on the 6.2L LSA liter engine utilize metric threads.
    • A new design crankshaft balancer bolt is used that requires a four-step tightening process. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications.

New Sealants and/or Adhesives

Sealers and adhesives for the LSA engine have been identified. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers.

Changed Engine Specifications

An engine mechanical specifications table has been added for the LSA application. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications.

Disassembly and Assembly Procedure Revisions

A variety of new repair procedures have been developed to support the new design LSA engine with supercharger assembly.

Engine Mechanical Diagnostic Procedure Revisions

All diagnosis on a vehicle should follow a logical process. Strategy based diagnostics is a uniform approach for repairing all systems. The diagnostic flow may always be used in order to resolve a system condition. The diagnostic flow is the place to start when repairs are necessary. New Special Tools Required

    • EN 48853 Front Cover Alignment Tool has been developed to align the front cover.
    • J 41478-A Seal Installer has been developed for crankshaft front oil seal installation.
    • EN 49102 Bearing Cap Removal Tool has been developed for main bearing cap removal.
    • EN 48898 Lifting Fixture has been developed to assist the technician in lifting the supercharger assembly during removal and installation.
    • EN 48974 EGR Cooler Pressure Test Adapter and J 46091 Charge Air Cooler Tester are used for pressure testing the supercharger intercooler assembly.
    • J 41665-A Crankshaft Balancer and Sprocket Installer has been developed for balancer and crankshaft sprocket installation.
