Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.
- Clean all parts with an approved solvent.
- Visually inspect all the parts for excessive wear or breakage. Replace the parts if necessary.
- Inspect the differential pinion gears (7) and the side gears (8) for any of the following conditions:
- Inspect the differential clutch disc packs (2).
| • | Inspect the splined differential clutch disc (3) |
| • | Inspect the eared differential clutch disc (4) |
- Inspect the differential clutch disc thrust washers (5).
- Inspect the differential thrust washers for wear (6).
- Inspect the differential carrier case (1) and (10) for cracks and scoring.
- Replace the differential assembly if there is damage to the differential carrier case.
