Front Brake Hose Replacement RWD

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 1969873  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the front brake pipe fitting (1).
  5. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  6. Remove the front brake hose retainer clip (1).

  7. Object Number: 1969875  Size: SH
  8. Remove the rear lower shock module bolt (1).

  9. Object Number: 1969869  Size: SH
  10. Remove the brake hose fitting bolt (1).
  11. Remove the brake hose fitting gaskets (2) from the brake hose (3).
  12. Discard the brake hose fitting gaskets.

  13. Remove the brake hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1969869  Size: SH
  1. Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) with 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the brake hose assembly to the caliper.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake hose fitting bolt to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear lower shock module bolt (1) through the brake hose bracket and to the lower control arm.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the front brake hose retainer clip (1).

  8. Object Number: 1969873  Size: SH
  9. Connect the front brake pipe fitting (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  11. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
  12. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

Front Brake Hose Replacement AWD

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 1969918  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the front brake pipe fitting (1).
  5. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  6. Remove the front brake hose retainer clip (1).

  7. Object Number: 1969921  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake hose retainer bolt (1).
  9. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor wire harness clip (2) from the brake hose retainer.

  10. Object Number: 1969922  Size: SH
  11. Remove the brake hose fitting bolt (1).
  12. Remove the brake hose fitting gaskets (2) from the brake hose (3).
  13. Discard the brake hose fitting gaskets.

  14. Remove the brake hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1969922  Size: SH
  1. Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) with 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the brake hose assembly to the caliper.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake hose fitting bolt to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1969921  Size: SH
  5. Install the brake hose retainer bolt (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the brake hose retainer bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Connect the wheel speed sensor wire harness clip (2) to the brake hose retainer.

  8. Object Number: 1969919  Size: SH
  9. Install the front brake hose retainer clip (1).

  10. Object Number: 1969918  Size: SH
  11. Connect the front brake pipe fitting (1).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  13. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
  14. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
