Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement LHD

1. Remove the power vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
2. For vehicles without the electronic parking brake, remove the park brake pedal assembly and front park brake cable and position aside. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.
3. Without disconnecting the steering column from the intermediate shaft, lower and support the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.



4. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.



5. Remove the power vacuum brake booster pushrod nut (1).



6. Disconnect the power vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) from the brake pedal pivot.



7. Remove the power vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).



8. Remove the power vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).



9. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).



10. Remove the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).



11. Remove the power vacuum brake booster bracket (1).



12. Remove the steering column support bracket (1).



13. Remove the brake pedal assembly (1) from the vehicle.

1. Install the brake pedal assembly (1) to the vehicle.



2. Install the steering column support bracket (1).



3. Install the power vacuum brake booster bracket (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




4. Install the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).



5. Install the brake pedal bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).



6. Install the power vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).



7. Install the power vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).



8. Connect the power vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) to the brake pedal pivot.



9. Install the power vacuum brake booster pushrod nut (1) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).



10. Connect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.
11. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
12. If removed, install the park brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.
13. Install the power vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
14. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.

Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement RHD

1. Remove the power vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
2. Without disconnecting the steering column from the intermediate shaft, lower and support the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.



3. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.



4. Remove the power vacuum brake booster pushrod nut (1).
5. Disconnect the power vacuum brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal pivot.



6. Remove the power vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).



7. Remove the power vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).



8. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).



9. Remove the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).



10. Remove the power vacuum brake booster bracket (1).



11. Remove the steering column support bracket (1).



12. Remove the brake pedal assembly (1) from the vehicle.

1. Install the brake pedal assembly (1) to the vehicle.



2. Install the steering column support bracket (1).



3. Install the power vacuum brake booster bracket (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




4. Install the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).



5. Install the brake pedal bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).



6. Install the power vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).



7. Install the power vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).
8. Connect the power vacuum brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal pivot.



9. Install the power vacuum brake booster pushrod nut (1) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).



10. Connect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.
11. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
12. Install the power vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
13. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.
