🢒 Parking Brake Intermediate Cable Replacement

Parking Brake Cable Release Tool
Removal Procedure
Release the park brake.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable and release the connector (1) from the front park brake cable.
Using the
J-37043
Parking Brake Cable Release Tool , depress the locking retainer (2) of the intermediate park brake cable housing (1).
Remove the intermediate park brake cable from the floor panel bracket (3).
Remove the park brake cable guide nut (3) from the mounting stud.
Remove the park brake cable guide bolt (1) from the floor panel.
Remove the park cable guides (2).
Disconnect the intermediate cable (2) from the rear equalizer (3).
Disconnect the intermediate cable from the right rear park brake cable connector (1).
Disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket by depressing the locking retainer.
Remove the intermediate cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Route and install the intermediate park brake cable into park brake cable retaining bracket.
Seat the intermediate park cable into the park brake cable retaining bracket.
Connect the right rear parking brake cable connector (1) to the intermediate park brake cable (2).
Connect the intermediate park brake cable to the equalizer (3).
Install the park cable guides (2).
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the park brake cable guide bolt (1) to the floor panel and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Install the park brake cable guide nut (3) to the mounting stud and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Connect intermediate park brake cable housing (1) to the floor panel bracket (3).
Seat the intermediate park brake cable housing retainer to the floor panel.
Insert the intermediate park brake cable into the cable retaining bracket and lock the intermediate park brake cable into place.
Connect the intermediate park brake cable connector (1) to the front park brake cable.
Lower the vehicle.
Cycle the park brake pedal 1 or 2 times.
