Preliminary Procedures

1. Ensure that the shift control linkage is correctly adjusted before replacing the shift control. Many transmission shift related complaints can be corrected with linkage adjustment. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
3. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift control linkage from the automatic transmission shift control assembly. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Replacement.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Remove the automatic transmission control boot assembly. Refer to Transmission Control Lever Boot Replacement.
6. Remove the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.

9 N·m (80 lb in)

Automatic Transmission Shift Control Assembly

Procedure

1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the shift control.
2. Adjust the automatic transmission shift control linkage after installing the automatic transmission shift control assembly. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment.
