Clutch Housing
- Clean the clutch housing in a suitable cleaning solvent and air dry.
- Inspect the clutch housing for the following conditions:

Caution: Refer to Machined Surface Damage Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the sealer from the case sealing surfaces.
- Inspect the case for being broken or cracked.
- Inspect the bearing bore for the following conditions:
- Replace the case assembly if any of the above conditions are found.
- Inspect the sealing surfaces for damage.
- Repair small scratches or nicks with a soft stone.
- Inspect the case threaded bolt holes for damage.
- Repair any damaged threads.
- Inspect the location pins for being loose or missing.
- Repair or replace any damaged location pins.
Middle Case
- Clean the middle case in a suitable cleaning solvent and air dry.
Caution: Refer to Machined Surface Damage Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the sealer from the case sealing surfaces.
- Inspect the case for being broken or cracked.
- Inspect the input shaft bearing bore for the following conditions:
- Inspect the countershaft front bearing bore for the following conditions:
- Replace the case assembly if any of the above conditions are found.
- Inspect the sealing surfaces for damage.
- Repair small scratches or nicks with a soft stone.
- Inspect the case threaded bolt holes for damage.
- Repair any damaged threads.
- Inspect the location pins for being loose or missing.
- Repair or replace any damaged location pins.
Rear Case
- Clean the rear case in a suitable cleaning solvent and air dry.
Caution: Refer to Machined Surface Damage Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the sealer from the case sealing surfaces.
- Inspect the sealing surfaces for damage.
- Inspect the case threaded bolt holes for damage.
- Repair any damaged threads.
- Inspect the location pins for being loose or missing.
- Repair or replace any damaged location pins.
- Inspect the shift shaft bushings for excessive wear.
- Inspect the bearing bore.
- Replace the case assembly if the shift shaft bushings are faulty.
Extension Housing
- Clean the extension housing in a suitable cleaning solvent and air dry.
Caution: Refer to Machined Surface Damage Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the sealer from the extension sealing surfaces.
- Inspect the sealing surfaces for damage.
- Inspect the extension for being broken or cracked.
- Inspect the oil seal for wear or damage. The oil seal is serviced only with the extension housing.
- Inspect the bearing bore.
- Replace the extension if any of the above conditions are found.
- Inspect the case threaded bolt holes for damage.
- Repair any damaged threads.
- Repair or replace any damaged location pins.
