DT-48371 Plug Wrench
Removal Procedure
Note: When performing the following procedure, use only hand tools to remove and install the drain and fill plugs.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Reposition the underbody insulation as necessary to gain access to the fill plug.
- Remove the fill plug (6) using the
DT-48371 .
- Remove the drain plug (8).
Note: Ensure that an approved drain pan is used when draining the transfer case.
- Allow the transfer case to drain completely.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution in the Preface section.
- Apply sealant GM P/N 12378470, (Canadian P/N 10952622), or equivalent to the threads of the drain plug.
- Install the drain plug (8) and tighten to
25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the fill plug hole with Mobil LT fluid GM P/N 88861950, (Canadian P/N 88861951).
- Install the fill plug (6) and tighten with hand plus 1.25 turns using the
DT-48371 .
- Lower the vehicle.
