Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement V6

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
  2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
  3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  4. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.

  5. Object Number: 2029078  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose clamps (1) and hoses (2) from the power steering fluid cooler (3).

  7. Object Number: 1974067  Size: SH
  8. Loosen the front bumper fascia enough to pull it forward and remove the power steering fluid cooler bracket bolt (1). Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement.
  9. Remove the power steering fluid cooler bracket nut (3).
  10. Remove the power steering fluid cooler (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1974067  Size: SH
  1. Position the power steering fluid cooler (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering fluid cooler bracket bolt (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering fluid cooler bracket nut (3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  7. Secure the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement.

  8. Object Number: 2029078  Size: SH
  9. Connect the power steering cooler hoses (2) and clamps (1) to the power steering fluid cooler (3).
  10. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  11. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  12. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  13. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the front bumper energy absorber. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Energy Absorber Replacement.
  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Remove the front intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front.
  4. Siphon the fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
15 N·m (11 lb ft)

Cooler, Power Steering Fluid

Procedure

  1. Loosen the hose clamps and remove the cooler outlet hoses from the cooler.
  2. Remove the front bumper impact bar. Refer to Front Bumper Impact Bar Replacement.
  3. Separate the cooler from the impact bar.
  4. Fill and Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
