1. Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch Malfunction 2. Rear Compartment Lid Release Malfunction |
The exterior rear compartment lid release switch sends a signal from the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). When the exterior rear compartment lid release switch is activated, the signal circuit is pulled to ground. The RCDLR interprets this and sends a serial data message to the body control module (BCM) requesting the rear compartment lid be released.
Battery voltage is between 9-16 volts.
The RCDLR detects a short to ground on the exterior trunk release switch signal circuit.
The trunk will not release from the exterior rear compartment lid release switch.
• | The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists. |
• | A history DTC will clear once 40 consecutive malfunction free ignition cycles have occurred. |

Command the trunk release by using the exterior rear compartment lid release switch. The rear compartment lid release actuator should release the trunk lid.
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp continuously illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or and open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the exterior rear compartment lid release switch. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the exterior rear compartment lid release switch. |
