Diagnostic Instructions

    • Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
    • Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
    •  Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptors

DTC C0292 02: VSES Combination Sensor Circuit Short to Ground

DTC C0292 07: VSES Combination Sensor Circuit Voltage Above Threshold

Circuit/System Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies a ignition voltage to the yaw rate sensor/lateral acceleration sensor, and the steering angle sensor. The sensor supply voltage is monitored via an internal feedback circuit to the EBCM microprocessor.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • Ignition ON.
    • Ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The EBCM detects a short to ground or an open/high resistance on the sensor supply voltage

Actions Taken when the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM disables StabiliTrak for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
    • The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition ON, verify that DTCs U1826, or U1827 are not set.
  2. If any of the DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the yaw/lateral acceleration sensor connector.
  4. Ignition OFF wait 1 minute, test for less than 10 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
  5. If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the EBCM.
  6. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  7. If less than the specified value, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  8. If all circuits test normal, replace the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor.

Repair Instructions
