Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2003 🢒 CTS - RHD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.6L and 3.2L 🢒 Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  2. Remove the right ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement - Bank 1 in Engine Controls-2.6L and 3.2L.
  3. Remove the knock sensor wire harness bolt and bracket.

    4. Object Number: 821101 Size: SH
  4. Remove the right camshaft cover bolts (1).
  5. Remove the right camshaft cover (2) from the cylinder head.

    6. Important: Ensure all 8 sealing O-ring seals (3) are accounted for. The O-ring seals (3) may stick to the camshaft bearing caps or they may fall into the oil return journals in the cylinder head.

  6. Remove the right camshaft cover seals (4).
  7. Clean and inspect the cylinder head sealing surface.
  8. Clean and inspect the right camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 345851 Size: SH
  1. Lightly coat the new O-ring seals with clean engine oil prior to installation to assist in holding the O-ring seals to the camshaft cover.
  2. Install the camshaft cover seals to the camshaft cover.

    3. Object Number: 345856 Size: SH
  3. Apply a thin coat of silicone sealer GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472), to the corners of the front and back of the seals.

    4. Object Number: 803449 Size: SH
  4. Apply a 3 mm (0.12 in) bead of silicone sealer GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472), at the front and rear of the camshaft cover between the seals.

    5. Object Number: 821101 Size: SH
  5. Position the camshaft cover (2) to the cylinder head, aligning the datum with the hole in the cylinder head.

    6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the camshaft cover bolts (1).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft cover bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  7. Install the knock sensor wire harness bracket and bolt.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the knock sensor wire harness bracket bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  8. Install the right ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement - Bank 1 in Engine Controls-2.6L and 3.2L.
  9. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
