Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2003 🢒 CTS - RHD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.6L and 3.2L 🢒 Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

    2. Object Number: 836411 Size: SH
  2. Position the oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
  3. Remove the oil pan drain plug and allow the engine oil to drain.
  4. Clean and inspect the oil pan drain plug, replace if necessary.
  5. Clean and inspect the oil pan drain plug sealing surface on the oil pan, repair or replace the oil pan if necessary.

    6. Important: To minimize oil spillage when removing the oil filter cartridge, allow sufficient time for oil drainage once the oil filter cartridge housing drain plug is removed.

  6. Remove the oil filter cartridge housing drain plug and allow the engine oil to drain into the drain pan.

  7. Remove the plastic cap from the oil filter cartridge housing.
  8. Remove the oil filter cartridge from the plastic cap.
  9. Clean and inspect the following, replace if necessary:
    10. • The oil filter cartridge plastic cap
    • The oil filter cap O-ring seal

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the oil filter cartridge housing drain plug.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter cartridge housing drain plug to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Important: Ensure the tabs on the oil filter cartridge (1) lock firmly into the plastic cap.

    An audible snap will be heard when the oil filter cartridge is completely seated.

  2. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge into the plastic cap.
  3. Lightly coat the O-ring seal (2) around the plastic cap with clean engine oil.

  4. Install the plastic cap to the oil filter cartridge housing.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter cartridge plastic cap to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the oil pan drain plug.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Wipe the oil pan drain plug and surrounding area with a clean, dry cloth.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the engine with the proper type and amount of engine oil. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations and Approximate Fluid Capacities in Maintenance and Lubrication.
  9. Start the engine and inspect the oil pressure gage for appropriate pressure build up.
  10. Inspect the oil filter cartridge housing and the oil pan drain plug areas for leaks.
  11. Shut the engine off.
  12. Check the engine oil level and adjust if necessary.
