Removal Procedure

    Caution: Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. A hot engine may cause an excessive coolant loss or a personal injury.

  1. Partially drain the coolant system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the wiper motor module in order to gain access to the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Refer to Windshield Wiper System Module Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.

  3. Object Number: 830543  Size: MH
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the ECT sensor.
  5. Remove the ECT sensor from the water crossover.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.

    Notice: Apply a non-hardening sealer to the sensor threads prior to installation in order to prevent coolant leaks. Use P/N 1050805 or the equivalent

  1. Install the ECT sensor into the water crossover.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the ECT sensor.
  4. Install the wiper motor module. Refer to Windshield Wiper System Module Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  5. Fill the coolant system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
