J 43301 Coil Pack Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 804903  Size: SH
  1. Remove the oil filler spout by unlocking the tab and twisting counterclockwise.

  2. Object Number: 785764  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the following from the remote power steering fluid reservoir (1):
  4. • The vacuum brake booster hose
    • The wiring harness (2)
  5. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster hose from the vacuum source.

  6. Object Number: 785730  Size: SH
  7. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir mounting bolts (1, 3) ONLY, and position aside.

  8. Object Number: 785821  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the coil pack (1).
  10. Remove the coil pack retainer bolts.

  11. Object Number: 411471  Size: SH

    Important: DO NOT overtighten the J 43301 .

  12. Thread the J 43301 into the coil pack.

  13. Object Number: 411468  Size: SH
  14. With even pressure, lift and remove the coil pack from the cam cover.

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect the coil pack seals and spark plug boots for damage or wear.
  2. Replace as necessary.


    Object Number: 444014  Size: SH
  3. Align the spark plug boots with the spark plugs.
  4. Carefully press and seat the coil pack in place.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the coil pack retainer bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the coil pack retainer bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  8. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the coil pack (1).

  9. Object Number: 785730  Size: SH
  10. Install the remote power steering fluid reservoir mounting bolts (1, 3).
  11. Tighten

    • Tighten the remote power steering fluid reservoir to intake plenum mounting bolts (1) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
    • Tighten the remote power steering fluid reservoir to cylinder head mounting bolt (3) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Connect the following to the remote power steering fluid reservoir (1):
  13. • The vacuum brake booster hose
    • The wiring harness (2)
  14. Connect the vacuum brake booster hose to the vacuum source.

  15. Object Number: 804903  Size: SH
  16. Install the oil filler spout by twisting clockwise and snapping in place.
