Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  3. Object Number: 725841  Size: SH
  4. Remove the brake pipe bracket nuts when removing the right coil spring.
  5. Remove the brake pipe bracket (2) from the mounting studs (1).

  6. Object Number: 728904  Size: SH
  7. Support the lower control arm using a suitable jack.

  8. Object Number: 783074  Size: SH
  9. Remove the lower shock mounting bolt.
  10. Lower the lower control arm and remove the support.
  11. Support the cradle with a suitable jack.

  12. Object Number: 708181  Size: SH

    Important: Remove the cradle bolts from the side that the coil spring is being replaced on.

  13. Remove the side cradle to body mounting bolts (4) and washers (3).
  14. Important: Lower the cradle far enough to remove the coil spring.

  15. Lower the side of the cradle.
  16. Remove the coil spring from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the coil spring to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 708181  Size: SH
  3. Raise the cradle.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the frame to body mounting bolts (4) and washers (3).
  6. Tighten

        • Tighten the front bolts to 265 N·m (195 lb ft).
        • Tighten the rear bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).
  7. Remove the jack from the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 728904  Size: SH
  9. Install a suitable jack under the lower control arm.
  10. Using the jack raise the lower control arm until the shock absorber aligns with the knuckle.

  11. Object Number: 783074  Size: SH
  12. Install the shock absorber lower retaining bolt.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 150 N·m (111 lb ft).

  14. Remove the jack from the vehicle.

  15. Object Number: 725841  Size: SH
  16. Install the brake pipe bracket (2) to the mounting studs (1).
  17. Install the brake pipe bracket retaining nuts.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  19. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  20. Lower the vehicle.
