Tools Required

    • J 23907 Slide Hammer with Bearing Adapter
    • J 26941 Bushing and Bearing Remover 3-4 in
    • J 29873 Injector Nozzle Socket 30 mm
    • J 45012 Holding Fixture
    • J 45019 Universal Puller
    • J 45510 Extension Housing Seal Installer

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 803962 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the propeller shaft coupler (1) from the transmission flange. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement in Driveline/Axle.
  2. Push the front propeller shaft toward the rear of the vehicle in order to release the propeller shaft coupler (1) from the transmission flange.

    3. Object Number: 804354 Size: SH
  3. Install J 45012 to the drive flange.
  4. Remove the drive flange nut using J 29873 while holding the J 45012 .
  5. Discard the drive flange nut.
  6. Remove J 45012 from the drive flange.

  7. Remove the drive flange from the transmission output shaft using J 45019 .

    8. Object Number: 801798 Size: SH
  8. Remove the output shaft seal using J 23907 and J 26941 .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 801800 Size: SH
  1. lubricate the rubber sealing lip and the outside diameter of the output shaft seal with DEXTRON®-III
  2. Install the output shaft seal using J 45510 .

    3. Object Number: 801795 Size: SH
  3. Install the drive flange to the transmission output shaft.

    4. Important: Use a new drive flange nut. Do NOT reuse the old nut.

  4. Apply gasket maker GM P/N 1052942 (Canadian P/N 10953466) to the sealing flange surface of the nut.
  5. Apply thread locker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the threads of the nut.

  6. Install J 45012 to the drive flange.

    7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the new drive flange nut.

    8. Tighten the drive flange nut using the J 29873 while holding the J 45012 .

    Tighten
    Tighten the drive flange nut to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  8. Remove J 45012 from the drive flange.

  9. Install the propeller shaft coupler (1) to the transmission flange. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement in Driveline/Axle.
  10. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level Inspection .
  11. Lower the vehicle.
